Portfolio

As part of our mission to help our members develop professionally, we have worked with many corporations, nonprofit organizations, and university labs in the past semesters on projects both in the industry and academia:

Research: DSS @ Berkeley provides students with a platform to connect with academic researchers in order to collaborate on interdisciplinary projects. We try to have a diverse set of projects in order to find unique ways to apply data science rather than to use traditional problem solving methods. In the past, we have had projects ranging from topics such as mental health research to optimizing energy allocation in urban areas. All projects are undertaken by members on our Analytics Committee.

Industry: Our Analytics Committee partners with companies across the Bay Area to tackle challenging problems encountered in the real world with the use of data science. Each project has around five team members and the members gain valuable exposure to working in the industry. Projects in the past have ranged from exploring fairness in the current electoral system to improving chatbot performance.
